Defensive linemen aggressive use their girth to clog rushing lanes. The closer offenses get to the goal line the smaller the field becomes. Not surprisingly, most of Cam’s rushing touchdowns have come from four yards or less but this is exactly why Cam’s rushing ability is so important. Newton’s 58 touchdowns dwarf the 18 by Andy Dalton and Dak Prescott (though Dak has done this in just three seasons, which is impressive.) The distance between Cam and other quarterbacks on the rushing touchdown list is laughable. Cam’s dominance and relative durability have made him a more prolific ground-based scoring machine than nearly every NFL running back since he first donned a Panthers uniform. Only Marshawn Lynch has found the end zone more often than Cam Newton ( our quarterback!) over the last eight seasons.
